Climate Crucifixion – in an Age of Plenty by Martin Newell CP

That is why someone said at a recent meeting (on Zoom of course) that we are not working to protect the planet “in order to maintain the lifestyle that we have” but to “create a system and a society where it is possible to live with integrity”.
My prayer is that we are all of us – especially those in my Passionist family – and for me, especially here in the UK – are willing to engage in the search that will lead us to this radical ecological conversion to which we are called, and which will include the abandonment of that human drive and sin of status competition that drives so much, from Cain and Abel, Babel and ever since. That would be a real grace, a real Resurrection.
