Help Us Celebrate the Feast of St. Francis!
On Friday, October 4, in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis and the Season of Creation, we will present an online blessing of the pets. Submit a photo of your pet here Deadline: October 1. The theme for the 2024 Season of Creation is “To hope and act with Creation.” Wade White, a a parishioners at St Mary's Passionist Parish in Birmingham, AL and Math teacher at Holy Family Cristo Rey High School tells us what fruits of hope he sees in creation: “This Season of Creation, I am enjoying the flowers my wife grows.”
During this Season of Creation, our Sunday reflections will highlight how the Gospel calls us to care for God’s creation. Today's scripture reflection is from Annemarie O’Connor, Director of Passionists International and Passionist NGO Representative to the United Nations. Our Passionist Charism is based on a profound commitment to hospitality and welcome, by which we willingly share in the joys and sorrows of our contemporaries. The Passionist charism invites all of us to stand with Jesus, who “tore down the walls of separation” (Ephesians 2:14, NABRE).
Each Friday during this Season of Creation, we will hear how Holy Family Retreat Center in West Hartford, CT is Living Laudato Si’. This week, hear how feeding the homeless helps them to hope and act with creation. Passionist John Monzyk, C.P. shares how the Passionist senior community at Sacred Heart Monastery in Louisville KY is living Laudato Si’ with solar electricity.
