Celebrating World River Day

The fourth Sunday in September is World River Day. The Passionist Parishes of Holy Family and St. Mary's in Alabama have worked with The Alabama Rivers Alliance and the Village Creek Human and Environmental Justice Society  to improve the entire watershed in which the 44 mile Village Creek runs through. 

John Meehan, a parishioner at St. Mary's, is one of two co-founders of the Village Creek Society. Linda Coleman-Madison is the parish council president there. She is also a senator in the AL legislature and has obtained funds from the state for programs to clean up Village Creek and to establish recreation areas.
