Solidarity news and reflections of interest to the Passionist Family Nikki Malunas, a long-time member of St. Gabriel's Passionist Parish in Toronto, Ontario, shares her reflection on the parable of the dishonest manager, urging us to act with urgency, wisdom, and integrity as faithful stewards of creation during the Season of Creation. In this Sunday’s gospel from Luke, Jesus tells the puzzling story of the dishonest manager. While not praised for dishonesty, the manager is commended for his shrewdness—his quick, creative action in a time of crisis. We too live in a time of crisis: the earth is under pressure, the climate is changing, and inequality is widening. This homily connects Jesus’ parable to the Season of Creation, reminding us that we are not owners, but stewards of what has been entrusted to us—our time, resources, relationships, and creation itself. Drawing from Pope Francis’ message in Laudato Si’ and the witness of young people, this reflection highlights how even small, faithful actions—reducing waste, planting trees, sharing resources, advocating for justice—become acts of love for God, for one another, and for the earth. May we be filled with the Spirit to act with urgency, wisdom, and compassion, seeking peace with creation not someday, but today.
