Solidarity news and reflections of interest to the Passionist Family We intend...to use our possessions for the relief of suffering and for the increase of justice and peace in the world." As we prepare for our Passionist celebration of the "Season of Creation 2025," we invite you to advocate to "Turn Debt into Hope." This year's Season of Creation advocacy focus is powerful: support climate justice by calling for fair debt relief for countries suffering both climate impacts and unjust economic burdens. Unsustainable debt has been inflicting immense suffering upon people in poor and climate vulnerable countries for far too long. The worst global debt crisis in a generation is preventing countries from meeting the basic needs of their citizens. The debt crisis and the climate crisis are closely related and mutually reinforcing. The debt crisis forces countries to reduce public spending, including spending on proactive climate action, leaving poorer nations unable to prepare for the new reality of rising seas, flooding, growing deserts, and stronger storms. Countries need to borrow more money to rebuild after extreme weather events, leading to even greater debt. 2025 is the 25th anniversary of the Jubilee Debt Campaign, inspired by the liberative values of jubilee. The biblical concept of Jubilee seeks to break the perpetuation of oppression. It aims to reset, repair and restore relationships between people, and between people and their environment. Peace with each other, and peace with creation. Learn more about how you can take action, including sign the petition to "Turn Debt into Hope," by visiting Caritas:
