These same migrants now are experiencing families torn apart, cancellations of legitimate asylum cases, no pathways to citizenship, constant fear of deportation, and at greater risk of becoming victims of human trafficking. The ‘American Dream’ has now become a cruel nightmare.

As Catholics, we are called to be in solidarity with Pope Francis and our bishops in their challenge to accompany these brothers and sisters on their journey seeking security and survival. St. Paul of the Cross, founder of the Passionists, assured us that ‘love is ingenious’. Despite the complexities and challenges of this moment, we must respond with a creative love that finds a way to welcome the victims of global crisis.

​We, as leaders of the Passionist Congregation, representing our various leadership teams and tens of thousands of people of goodwill, call upon all members of the Passionist family, including vowed members, parishioners and retreatants, board members, benefactors, school students and parents, teachers and administrators, team and staff members, and volunteers, to stand with us and our brothers and sisters, and collectively raise our voices to our elected leaders.

"The serious situation of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia today creates great anxiety and concern for our brothers in the ASSUM Province of Poland who have responsibility for the Passionist presence and mission in Ukraine. We express our fra-ternal solidarity with the four Passionist religious: 3 Ukrainian nationals and 1 Polish national, who minister in the town of Smotrych and surrounding areas in Western Ukraine and are most immediately affected by this crisis."

​Kentucky is home to the Passionist Solidarity Network, the Earth and Spirit Center, St. Agnes Parish, and of course, Sacred Heart Community.  We were all spared the damage from the destructive series of tornadoes this month which took nearly 80 lives with billions in damages and a recovery which likely will be decades. We stand in solidarity with those effected. The areas most damaged include many poor, low-income and immigrant communities.  Governor Beshear has set up a special fund for immediate relief to those affected by the powerful series of tornadoes this month. Click here for the link if you are able to donate to the effort.

The Passionist Solidarity Network was contacted by the Tyler Clementi Foundation to encourag support of the statement God Is On Your Side: A Statement From Catholic Bishops On Protecting LGBT Youth.   The PSN has signed onto the statement.

Please hold this initiative up in prayer that many hearts and minds will be changed as we work together to share God's love, hope and compassion to everyone.  And please spread the word and reach out to additional bishops about the importance of having their name attached to this very momentous statement.​

U.S. and Canadian religious orders and institutions are beginning to engage the process of facing the terrible legacy of boarding schools they operated for indigenous people in the 19th and 20th centuries.

There is no one version of this history that is full of brokenness and beauty.
